ROS2 Test Bench for On-board Detection of Rail Defects

This presentation focuses on the design and development of an innovative test bench dedicated to validating embedded rail-defect detection systems. Built using the ROS2 framework, this experimental bench can emulate a wide range of train motion conditions and integrates a multisensor setup (line-scan camera and IMU) that is essential for onboard diagnostics. It supports both Software-In-the-Loop and Hardware-In-the-Loop validation modes, which are crucial for testing, refining, and validating detection algorithms under controlled conditions prior to field deployment. This bench therefore constitutes a key tool for accelerating the development of predictive maintenance solutions by ensuring their robustness and adaptability to real-world operating conditions.
