Towards Real World Co-optimization of a Storage System

Over the lifecycle of a storage facility, its sizing is one of the first decisions to be taken, and one of the most costly. Yet its optimal size will depend on how it will be operated over its lifetime. A co-optimisation is then to be solved. It is straightforward to formulate, although requires extensive input data which may not be available in a real-life application. For example, the ageing model for ancitipating and extending service life; or forecast error data for stochastic management. This talk will outline possible approaches and simplifications to achieve the industrial transfer of academic results.
