Modelling complex systems via the analysis of qualitative data

Modelling problems are concerned with the relationships between input and output variables. When both sets of variables are qualitative ones, data analysis can be used to construct a model of the system expressed by a set of rules, on the basis of the knowledge contained in a set of observations (learning set). We propose an approach for the construction of such models, using information theory based indexes.
