This paper provides an introduction to power conversion using piezoelectric resonators as a means of temporary storage instead of inductors. This is a promising approach due to the high energy density per unit volume that can be stored in certain materials. A conversion power density of 5.7 kW/cm3 has been achieved in the state of the art with lithium niobate with an efficiency >97%
