Electric power
Experience-based course on three-phase electrical power conversion

Although electrical machines and power electronics are well studied in the different courses from the first to the third year of university level, they are often studied separately. Many Master's degree students in electrical engineering courses, while having already seen the principle governing electrical machines and power electronics, are unable to deeply describe the operation of a variable-frequency drive of an electric motor. The course presented in this article aims at filling these gaps, by proposing a structure based on experience (70%), with a part of simulation (20%) and some theoretical reminders (10%).
