This article deals with the magneto-mechanical sizing of laminated ferromagnetic pole pieces of a magnetic gear. This ring is subjected to a magnetic field, which generates radial and tangential loads on the pole pieces. To ensure the mechanical strength, we propose a support bar geometry which does not lessen magnetic properties and which correctly maintains the laminated pole pieces. From a multibody model where the stiffnesses are determined from a 1-D model for the support bars, it is possible to determine a first approximation of the stress and the displacement of the different support bars due to a static magneto-mechanical load. An example of magnetic gear with 151 laminated pole pieces (3,9 MW wind turbine) is proposed.
