This work present the conception and development of a microfluidic component for fluid distribution through a microneedle matrix. This component is a part of an Europan research project, Angioskin, aiming to cure a skin disease (psoriasis) by injecting a DNA coding for an antiangiogenic factor. The medical context of this project imposed to adapt the microfluidic device ; it has to deliver small quantities of liquid with the fewest possible losses and distribute a given quantity of liquid uniformly through one hundred microneedles despite variable injection conditions. Finally, the circulation of the DNA molecules within the microsystem has been checked, and especially it has been made sure that the DNA molecule were not damaged inside the microsystem. The microsystem is made of PDMS and is composed of a matrix of microchambers connected by microchannels, and several control elements (valve, fluidic diode, hydrodynamic resistance). This system has been patented (EP1852142).
