FPGA accelerators HLS-based design of hyper complex LMS filters

In this paper, it is explored the use of the high- level synthesis (HLS) tool to design field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based Quaternion Least Mean Square (QLMS) filters. The QLMS behaviour is modelled in system level C-code, and performance…

A New Fault Tolerant Control Method for a Three Phase Modular Multilevel Converter Under an Arm Failure

Modular multilevel converter (MMC) is widely used in medium to high power applications. One of the significant features that an MMC can provide is the fault tolerant operation, which improves the reliability of the converter. Although there are…

AC motor impedance HF modeling for designing with windings variability

This paper presents a unified predictive modeling for common-mode (CM) and differential-mode (DM) impedance estimation of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). This methodology combines 2D Finite Element modeling and generated lumped…

System-on-Chip FPGA Devices for Complex Electrical Energy Systems Control

Digital electronics has become a standard for controlling electrical systems. This is due to the constant improvement of the digital devices, whether in terms of density, performance, flexibility of use or cost reduction. This paper looks into…

Embedded Real-Time Simulator for Sensorless Control of Modular Multi-Level Converters

This paper suggests the application of an embedded real-time simulator (eRTS) in the context of voltage–sensorless control of a modular multilevel power converter (MMC). This eRTS acts as an observer and ensures digital redundancy in the case of any…

Definition and Implementation of an EMI Figure of Merit for Switching Pattern in Power Converters

Power transistors are a source of electromagnetic interference (EMI) during switching due to the high levels of voltage/current transient. Reducing the switching duration can reduce the EMI generation but increases the switching power losses. For…
