Robust sizing and IGDT-based energy management for multi-energy microgrids with integrated power-to-gas and gas-to-power systems

Optimal sizing is essential in microgrid design to ensure reliable operation and cost efficiency. This study introduces an integrated Multi-Energy System architecture that couples the microgrid, micro-heat, micro-gas, and the interface systems to…

Enhancing Efficiency in Electrocaloric Cooling: A Study on Voltage-Dependent Material Losses

Electrocaloric P(VDF-TrFE-CFE) (PVDF) films are routinely characterized using sinusoidal excitation at a few hundred hertz, yet this approach overlooks the profound influence of excitation profiles on material losses. Here, we compare losses under…

Study of Thermal Hysteresis in FeRh Films Under Fast Temperature Modulation of the Phase Transition

The thermal hysteresis exhibited by FeRh thin films under fast temperature driving is studied using a modulated reflectance setup. The antiferromagnetic/ferromagnetic (AF/FM) phase fraction modulation, driven by a pump-laser induced square-modulated…

Modelling, Analysis and Control of a Power Flow Controller for AC-DC Meshed Grids

This paper extends the concept of the Power Flow Controller (PFC), initially developed for DC meshed grids, to hybrid AC/DC meshed grids. The coexistence of AC and DC power flows and the grid’s complex topology present significant modeling and…

AI surrogate models for lifetime prediction in power electronic modules

Reliability assessment of power electronic modules (PEMs) traditionally relies on counting methods to decompose complex mission profiles (MPs) into equivalent loading cycles, followed by a cumulative damage rule to estimate fatigue life. While…
